I don't remember what he did but she was a Jr. High School teacher up until her retirement. They had no children. She lived there after French died and was there until her death. General Notes: Patricia Lively Dickenson: My brother, Jack Lively enlisted in the US Navy in April of 1950. The Lively family thought that he would be home for Christmas. They were very wrong. He shipped out to Hawaii on Christmas Eve 1950.
Jack was fun loving. A jokester. He loved to dance, but there was also a thoughtful and loving side to Jack. Every Saturday, while Jack was stationed in Hawaii, he sent his mother an orchid via overnight delivery so that she would have a fresh one to wear to Church.
Jack was shot down by the Russians in November, 1951. After finding out about the shoot-down by the newspapers, the family was told that his flight was a weather recon flight. The family later learned that his flight was an intelligence gathering recon mission.
Jack was a Cold War Loss off the coast of Russia. There were 2 live sighting reports. One Russian saying that the Russian was in hospital #404 with Americans. Mr. Chenko.
Chenko gave info on the 4 Americans that he was hospitalized with. Height, birthdate, cities or hometowns of record. He was believed by both sides of the Russian Commission.
Another live sighting came from an NKVD camp guard in Russia who gave American authorities information on 5 American POWs. Two of those five were named Paul, spelled "P-A-L-L."
Through the years, the USG stated there was no information surrounding Jack's shoot down. In September, 1994, the family filed a Freedom of Information Request with the CIA. The CIA responded that they had no documentation. Yet, there was a CIA document found in the archives from CIA's POW desk. It was classified due to National Security. The date on the document is the date and proximity of Jack's shoot down.
The Russian and US governments should hand over all information about Jack and the rest of the crew to the families.

NO GREATER LOVE HONORS COLD WAR ATTACK VICTIMS

On Nov. 6, 1951, a United States Navy P2V-3W Neptune reconnaissance aircraft assigned to Squadron VP-6 at Atsugi Naval Air Base in Japan, was shot down by Soviet fighters near Cape Ostrovnoi, USSR.
A remembrance ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the attack and the loss of the crew was held at the No Greater Love POW/MIA Tree and Stone adjacent to the amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery.
³We are here to remember those Americans who gave their last measure of devotion, their lives, in service to their nation and their comrades,² said Carmella LaSpada, founder of No Greater Love. ³Each loved by family and friends. Each so desperately missed and needed in those lives and the life of our country.²
The P2V-3W Neptune reconnaissance plane is one of ten aircraft shot down during the Cold War that is currently being investigated by the U.S. Russian Joint Commission on POW/MIAs. The P2V-3W was the second plane downed in the conflict.
³It was 50 years ago today that 10 courageous Navy crewmen made the ultimate sacrifice,² said LaSpada. ³Their plane was shot down by Soviet fighters and they were never heard from again.²
No Greater Love and the Cold War Museum co-sponsored the ceremony to honor the Cold War veterans and to remember the sacrifices made during the Cold War. Francis Gary Powers Jr., founder of the Cold War Museum is the namesake of his father, the U-2 spy plane pilot who was shot down over Moscow in 1960.
Ray and Patricia Dickinson were present to represent the families of the crew. Patricia Dickinson, the sister of U.S. Petty Officer 3rd Class Jack Lively, helped announce the roll call of remembrance, as did Navy Chaplain (Capt.) Gene Theriot.
No Greater Love founded by Carmella LaSpada in 1971, is solely dedicated to providing programs of remembrance for those who lost loved ones in service to our country or by an act of terrorism.
³There is an inscription on a memorial on this hallowed ground at Arlington National Cemetery that I feel describes these fine young men,² said LaSpada, to the attendees as she concluded the ceremony.
ŒIt reads: ŒNot for fame or reward, not for place or rank, not lured by ambition or goaded by necessity, but in simple obedience to duty as they understood it.¹ And that duty for them was the cause of peace in the world.²
