  General Notes:

Many Lively Families in the United States have long believed that Edward Lively 1545-1605 was a direct ancestor to Mark Lively 1690-1752 of early Virginia. We have found no solid evidence of that. We have seen many notations in family bibles, in fact, the story is so pervasive that we tend to assume it is factual. The real question in our mind, is identification of the generations from Edward Lively b. 1545 to Mark Lively b. about 1690.

Even so, our research has shown a number of Livelys immigrating to the colonies, enough so that a genealogist could make any number of cases for a Mark Lively ancestry. For instance, an immigrant from Glasgow, Edward Lively came to the colonies in 1630. He was an Irish-Scot student and predates Mark Lively by 60 years (source: Irish/Scot Settlers in America 1575-1752 Pt II). But we can find no trace of him after that time. And there were others.

Richard married Margaret Unknown [35119] [MRIN: 90]. (Margaret Unknown [35119] died about 23 Aug 1654 in Burford, Oxfordshire, England and was buried on 26 Aug 1654 in Burford Parish, England.)
