Found on the 1870 census of Canoochie, Emanuel Co., GA, living two houses from his parents. Thomas is age 27, with wife, Elizabeth, age 23, and two children: Laura (age looks like 11, but could be 4), and George, age 1. Also in their home is Margaret Stapleton, age 50, housekeeper.

In 1880, Thomas and family are found in Dist. 81, Jefferson Co., Georgia. Thomas has changed the spelling of his last name to Dixon and his age is 37. He is a farmer born in Georgia. In his home are his wife, Elizabeth, age 32; daughters Mary 13 and Sarah E. 11, sons George W. 9 and John T. 3 and a male infant age 10 months. Margaret Stapleton is listed as a sister in law and housekeeper, age 40, and James H. M Stapleton, brother in law, 30, farmer.

1900 federal census of Jefferson Co., GA, shows Tomas Dickson, age 57, born in Georgia in Aug. 1842. He is married for 5 years to Clora, the mother of one child. However, there are five children living in his home. Clora was born in Georgia in Nov. 1860. All children born in Georgia: Cory, dtr., born June 1882 is 17; Rutha, dtr., born Nov. 1884 is 15; James D., son, born March 1887 is 13; Smith, son, born July 1889 is 10; and William, son, born Jay? 1899 is ? age unreadable. All children are single.

1910 federal census of Jefferson Co., GA, shows Thomas J. Dickson, age 68, married twice; this time for 16 years and his wife, Clara, married once for 16 years. She is the mother of two children. There are two sons and one grandson in the home. Everyone could read and write. Clara is 50; Whigham, son, is 14; James D., son, is 22, and Ernest, grandson, is 18. All boys are single. (Perhaps Ernest is James D.'s son.)

Thomas is not found on the 1920 census in Jefferson Co., GA.
