Joseph appears in the 1800 census of Abbeville, South Carolina with his wife and three sons, all under 10 years of age. Joseph Lively came to Illinois Territory in 1805 and settled three miles from Kaskaskia. He lived on his farm until 1823 when he moved and settled on the old Judge John Campbell residence.
Joseph married Mary Anderson [21047] [MRIN: 3730], daughter of Joseph Anderson [21050] and Unknown. (Mary Anderson [21047] was born about 1771 and died on 6 Jan 1834 in Randolph County, Illinois.)
