General Notes:
Andrew Canterbury was a miller in Monroe County. On May 25, 1866, he sold 229 acres on the Greenbrier River to Thomas Crawford. He then moved, with his wife Elizabeth and their children, to Page, Fayette County. There Andrew purchased 150 acres of the Ingram Farm near Loup Creek on August 15, 1873 for one thousand dollars. His cabin was on the site of the Ingram Branch coal tipple. Andrew was one of the founders of the Loup Creek Baptist Church in 1865 and served as trustee of the log cabin church built in 1874 near the mouth of White Oak Fork. In addition to his farming, he was chosen as the best qualified to teach school at Page under the new free schooling system, and taught for several semesters in the 70's. Andrew died at age 56 near Canterbury Road at Ingram Branch in 1877.
