bullet  General Notes:

Edward Green Canterbury was a farmer when he married Claudia May Lively in 1896. Later, while living at Dunloup, he worked as a carpenter building bridges for the railroad. In 1905 he purchased several tracts of land from the Paintsville Land Development Corporation of Mount Hope on the west side of the railroad in Paintsville (named Pax at a later date) and built a house in 1909.

In 1913 Ed and brother in law, Otis Lively, purchased a tract on the east side of the railroad adjacent to his house. On March 19, 1919 he sold his house and the west side tracts to Barbara Hunter for two thousand dollars and acquires the Otis half interest in the eastside tract. There he built a new house and a commercial building that included a general store, apartments, lodge, hall, movie theatre and barbershop. The theatre had a player piano used during silent film showings.
