VALENTINE, JAMES EDWARD "JIMMIE" Born in Baton Rouge on Dec. 9, 1919, he died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004. He retired in 1976 as a deputy clerk of court with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court Office after 33 years of service. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., led by the Altar Society of St. Louis King of France and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1915. Visitation at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, conducted by the Rev. Maynard Hurst. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Rita Jane Brignac Valentine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and John F. "Buddy" Ricaud Jr. and Nancy and Donald M. Tate; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary "Cookie" Valentine; grandchildren, John F. "Trey" Ricaud III and wife Alison, Nicole Ricaud Jarreau and husband Brian, Susan Tate LeBlanc and husband Troy, Jill Twidwell Corrente and husband Troy, Stephen Ryan, James Ross and Lauren Brook Valentine, and Donald Lee and Jennifer Anne Tate; great-grandchildren, Blandyn Lance and Blair Leanne LeBlanc and Tomasin Rainey Corrente; and brothers and sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Mamie) Rice, Mrs. Charles (Jeanette) Tabler, Mrs. Paul (Theresa) Paline, J. Alvin Valentine, Albert "Scooter" Valentine and Kenneth "Buck" Valentine. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward Benton Valentine and Annie C. Terrell Valentine; an infant son, Charles Ray Valentine; a sister, Mrs. Martin A. (Beatrice) Brignac; and three brothers, Vannie "Noots" Valentine, J. Irvin Valentine and Frank "Pedro" Valentine. Pallbearers will be John F. "Trey" Ricaud III, Stephen Ryan Valentine, James Ross Valentine, Brian Clint Jarreau, Donald Lee Tate and Troy Hayden LeBlanc. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Louis King of France Catholic Church.
