Will of Jehu Meadors, 1808 - Cumberland County, Virginia Will Book 3, pg 409
I, Jehu Meadors Sen: of the County of Cumberland do make & publish this my last will and testament. I give to my daughter, Frances Meadors, one negroe man by the name of Harry to her and her heirs forever. I give to my granddaughter Mary Boatright my negroe girl by the name of Corsey and should my granddaughter die leaving issue of her body it is my will that the said negroe Corsey and her issue shall return to my estate and be equally divided among my six children or their heirs Anne Robinson, Patty Anderson, Sally Boatright, Joseph Meadors, Jehue Meadors, and Josiah Meadors. I give my grandson Jehue Meadors, the son of Jonas Meador the sum of sixty pounds to be raised from my estate for the purpose of educating him. It is my will that the rest of my estate consisting of Dick, Suke, Hannah, Old Delphia, my stock of cattle, horses, hogs, sheep, plantation utencils and the interest I have in the negroes I bought of my son Jonas which he held in the right of his wife Polly who was Polly Robinson, be equally divided among my six children, Ann Robinson, Polly Anderson, Sally Boatright, Jehue Meadors, Joseph Meadors and Frankie Meadors, subjecting the said estate first to the payment of such debts as may be proper to be paid and the legacy of sixty punds which is left to my grandson Juhue Meadors, the son of Jonas. Lastly, I appoint my friends, Richard Anderson, Willis Wilson and John Hatcher my executors.
Jehu married Sarah Atkinson [15084] [MRIN: 4992], daughter of Samuel Atkinson [20682] and Mary Ann Atkinson [20683], about 1760 in Cumberland County, Virginia.
