According to the "Livelys of America" book, Reason and Mary M. Criss separated shortly after the birth of their youngest child, though they never divorced. Reason was a music teacher and a talented singer.

Reason married Mary Margaret Lively [16933] [MRIN: 5675], daughter of Benjamin Green Lively [698] and Rebecca Kessler [16939], on 11 Dec 1886 in Fayette County, West Virginia. (Mary Margaret Lively [16933] was born in 1866 and died in 1938.)
