CAYCE, S.C. -- Mrs. Ethel Gantt Shumpert, a homemaker, member of Blind Chapter 4461 in Beaufort and oldest
member of Pelion Baptist Church, Pelion, of 1716 Dunbar Road, died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Lexington Medical
Center. She was 102.
The funeral will be at 5 p.m. today at Pelion Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Ludwick officiating. Burial will be
in Oaklawn Cemetery, Pelion.
Survivors include a son, Albert Shumpert, Cayce; three daughters, Alma Cofer, Wagener, and Annie Jackson and
Mildred Baker, Cayce; and six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Brent Baker, Josh Baker, Rhett Brown, Michael Cofer, Travis Williams and Larry Shumpert.
Memorials may be made to Pelion Baptist Church or to Federation of the Blind.
