LEESVILLE - Leon O. Gantt, 91, of 505 Swamp Rabbit Road, widower of Bessie Mize Gantt,
died Wednesday, March 6, 2002.
A native of Lexington County, he was a son of the late Ulysses Kelly and May Ola Fink Gantt. He
was a World War II Army veteran and a retired employee of Batesburg-Leesville Water Plant.
Survivors include a brother, Robert K. Gantt of Batesburg-Leesville; a sister, Elsie Ridgell of
Batesburg-Leesville; seven step-children, Doris Blalock, Marie Collins, Virginia Fox, Kathryn
Jones and George Lomax Jr., all of Ninety Six, Margaret Goodson of Alto, Ga., and Evelyn
Chastain of Tampa, Fla.; and 22 step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 Saturday, conducted by the Revs. Leon Senn, Bill Padgett and J.R. Baker,
at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Bickley, Scott Gantt, Joshua Gantt, Jeremy Gantt and Jason Widener.
Visitation is from 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
