Benjamin Ragland [30381]

  General Notes:

Moved into northwestern Tennessee and settled along the Nolichucky River. During the period 1780-84, Benjamin served as a member of "Clarke's Partisans" in the American struggle against the British and Royalist invasion of the back country of North and South Carolina. As a result of his service with the Georgian partisans, he was given in 1784 a grant of 575 acres in Wilkes Co., GA, and by 1786 he had moved his family there. Suffering some type of financial difficulties, he sold all his holdings and eventually moved to Barren Co., KY.

Benjamin married Ann Tucker [30463] [MRIN: 10194], daughter of Joseph Tucker [30464] and Lucy Wilson [30465].
