General Notes:
During the American Revolution, Evan served as a lieutenant in Clarke's Georgia Partisians and very likely took part in the several battles in which the unit participated. He was paid 575 acres for his military service and 200 acres in headrights for 4 in family, signed by Elijah Clark, Col., on Feb. 2, 1784. Prominent in civic affairs, he was appointed Lieutenant Colonel and commander of the Elbert County militia in 1791 and in the following year became the Tax Assessor for Elbert County, a post which he would hold until his death.
