Marvin Ray Cadle [21659]
Information provided by Geneva Alice Lively Cadle, given to her daughter, Donna Cadle Witt. Geneva is the mother of Marvin Ray. Marvin got sick suddenly at noon one day, they got a doctor for him that same day, but the doctor couldn't help. The doctor came to the house, but it was too late. They believe he died of "Cholera Infantum". They bought a casket for him, from the casket company right above Leef's store in Grassy Meadows, Greenbrier County, West Virginia. It was a wooden casket. The casket company was right above the store, before you got to the McElhenny Church. They had a wake for him at Grandpa William Wesley Cadle's house in Grassy Meadows. Cecil and Geneva Cadle were living with Cecil's parents at that time. Lula Cadle, Mable Cadle and Clay Cadle were still living at home at that time. Marvin was buried at the Cadle Cemetery, which is located on a hill behind Evert and Mae Cadle's home place in Grassy Meadows, WV. They only had horses and buggies at that time, so they probably took him to the cemetery that way. Mom can't remember exactly. This is being written on January 20, 2001, shortly after we held Mom's 88th birthday party (her birthday is January 22nd). |
