July 28, 1921 - "The term of circuit court this week has been taken up in the hearing of a damage suit brought by Bud Lively against the Virginia Railway for personal injuries sustained when an auto he was driving was struck by a train at a road crossing near Pax. About 50 witnesses are in attendance."

September 24, 1924 - "Bud Lively of Long Branch lost a valuable bull and two heifers Thursday when lightning struck and killed them while in pasture."

November 19, 1924 - "Bud Lively, in town Monday, reports that the local supply of turkeys are scarce this year. He got a drove in Raleigh County which he paid 40 cents per pound, some are asking 50 cents."
