General Notes:
Veteran of the War of 1812. Served with the Captain Samuel Marshall Company. Lived in Hanover County, Virginia 1798; Powhatan County, Virginia in 1801; Monroe County, Virginia 1834-39; Fayette County, Virginia 1840; White Oak/Glade Fork, Raleigh County, West Virginia and finally Paint Creek, West Virginia June 1860.
Elinor F. Tyree has this to say about it: "Between 1650 and 1680 the Tyree and Satterwhite families were neighbors in York County. In 1720 David Tyree and Michael Satterwhite were called up from the Hanover County (St. Pauls Parish) list of tithables to work on the roads. The families were neighbors in Prince Edward County before moving to Hanover County. In the years following 1720, the Satterwhite family disappeared; but the name lived on for at least two generations as a given name for Tyree sons. One Satterwhite Tyree was cited for debts in 1794, relieved of his property and went west. The second Satterwhite born 1783 produced one of the most prolific and well preserved lineages we have."
The Satterwhite Tyree that forfeited his land in lieu of debts then headed "west" may be the Satterwhite Tyree that married Malinda Standiford in Hardin County, Kentucky on January 19, 1826. This Satterwhite and Malinda moved to Missouri, Osage County and had these children:
1. Israel Tyree b. 1829 2. Ellen Tyree b. 1832 3. Louisa Tyree b. 1834 4. Polly Tyree b. 1836 5. Cordillia Tyree b. 1839 6. James H. Tyree b. 1841 7. Malinda Tyree b. 1843 8. Martha J. Tyree b. 1846
Satterwhite married Rhoda Taylor [4186] [MRIN: 1464], daughter of Matthew Taylor [4354] and Unknown, on 17 Feb 1813 in Powhatan County, Virginia. (Rhoda Taylor [4186] was born in 1792 and died in Virginia.)
