Hugh Williams paid taxes on 100 acres in the Culbertson Creek area near Williamsburg in northwest Greenbrier County, 1787 to 1821. In the 1820 census he is listed with William Williams. Hugh settled on Hughes Ferry, Nicholas County. Specifically, the 1840 census of Nicholas County places William Williams, Alexander Williams and Andrew Williams in a cluster with Hugh Williams. Hugh and Jane lived next door to Alexander and Nancy Hall.
Hugh married Jane Bell [6859] [MRIN: 2261] on 18 Jan 1791. (Jane Bell [6859] was born in 1776 in Virginia and died about 1875 in Nicholas County, West Virginia.)
