William came to Nicholas County sometime after the War of 1812. In 1824 he moved his family to Twenty Mile, where he had purchased 170 acres from Jehu Summers. Later he added more land to this original purchase. Farmer, sawmill and cane mill operator.
William married Elizabeth Jones [6993] [MRIN: 1744], daughter of Thomas Johnes [6994] and Lavinah Thomas [6995], in Sep 1817 in Kanahwa County, Virginia. (Elizabeth Jones [6993] was born before 1798 in Greenbrier County, Virginia, died on 31 Mar 1882 in Nicholas County, West Virginia and was buried in Williams Cemetery, Spring Creek, West Virginia.)
