  General Notes:

The last will and testament of Shadrack Lively.
Dated May 10, 1864.

In the name of God, Amen: I, Shadrack Lively of the County of Albemarle in the State of Virginia, being infirm in bodily health, but of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, to wit: First, I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the ground to be decently buried at the discretion of my family, and after my funeral charges and other of my debts are paid, I give and bequeath as follows -

I give and bequeath unto my wife Rachel T. Lively, my farm on which I reside with all the stock, implements, household and kitchen furniture, and whatsoever else may be pertaining thereto . . .

I give and bequeath unto my wife Rachel all the Negroes that I inherited from my father's estate with their increase. And I also give unto her, my Negroe man Jasper. These Negroes to be hers without restriction or condition.

I give and bequeath unto my wife's nephew, J. W. Bronham and her neice, Rachel T. Bronham all the residue of my negroes with their increases to be equally divided between them, share and share alike.

I give and bequeath unto my wife Rachel T. Lively the residue of my Estate of every description not specified in the foregoing requests. And lastly, I do hereby revoke all Wills by me heretofore made and do hereby publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.
