6. Col. Maurice Langhorne [10385] was born in 1719 in Warwick County, Virginia and died in 1791 in Cumberland County, Virginia at age 72.

Colonial Families in the U.S. "MAURICE LANGHORNE of Cumberland Co., Va., second son of John, of Warwick Co., said to have been b. in 1721. He resided in Warwick Co. during the earlier years of his life, but later removed to Cumberland Co., and made his home there till death. The exact date of his moving is not known, but in Nov. 1759, “Maurice LANGHORNE of Warwick Co., Gent.,” and his wife, Elizabeth, executed a deed to Thomas TROTTER, of the town and and Co. of York, merchant, showing that they were still living in Warwick. From 18th Feb. 1775, to 23d Sept. 1776, he was a member of the Cumberland Co. Revolutionary Committee of Safety. He d. there in 1791, and the inventory of his estate was recorded in Mar. of the same year. He m. (first) Elizabeth TROTTER, dau. of John TROTTER of Yorktown, Va.; m. (secondly) Mary MOULSON.

On hearing the Complantns Bill and Defendants Answer and a Transcript of the last Will and Testment of William Moulson late of Amelia County deceased by the Complanants and Defendants Council. Ordered that Thomas Mumford, Edmund Booker, George Booker and John Pride, Gentlemen or any three of them lay off and assign to the Complainants the Slaves devised to them by William Moulson deceased in his last Will and Testament. The Complainatns in the first Place giving Bond and sufficient Security or other Assurance to the Defendants the Executors of the said William deceased to indemnify them with Regard to any Debts still due from the estate.
Ordered that John Steward, William Whitesides, James Minces and Benjamin McNice or any three being first sworn before a Justice of the Peace of the county of Amherst do appraise the slaves and personal estate of Richard Jones in that County.

Segar Moulson his next Friend . . . . . . Complainants against Joseph Eggleston, Ricahrd Eggleston, William Giles and Richard Eggleston the younger Executors &c of the last Will and Testament
of Wm. Moulson decd., Defendants (In Chancery).
It is maturely considered ordered and decreed that the eight following Slaves, to wit, Cupid, Mary, Lucey, Betty Ben, Dick Latty and Venus of the Property of William Moulson late of the County of Amelia deceased vest in the Complainant Mary Moulson in such manner and Form and in such Estate or Estates as she was to hold one Part of the Slaves of her deceased Husband William Moulson by his last Will and Testament but that she the said Mary Moulson on receiving and holding the said Slaves pay unto her Son Josiah Moulson forty Shillings and to her Son William Segar Moulson twenty Shillings current and lawful money of Virginia the Slaves being of three Pounds Value over and above her proportional Part, that the seven following Slaves, to wit, London, Cupid, Sally, Etha linda, John, Toney and Nathan, of the Slaves of William Moulson deceased [p28] vest in the Complainant William Segar Moulson in such Manner and Form and that he have such Estate or Estates in the said seven Slaves as in Law he may have and hold in the Part or Proportion of the Slaves devised him by his Father in his last Will and Testament; that the seven following Slaves, to wit, Sam, Lewis, Hannah, Moses, great Jude, Frank and Eve of the Slaves of the said Wiliam Moulson deceased, vest in the Complainants Maurice Langhorne and Mary his Wife in such Manner and Form and under such Restrictions Limitations and Estate or Estates as they may or ought in law to hold the Part or Proportion of the Slaves of the said William Moulson deceased devised to his Daughter the Complainant Mary Langhorne and that the said Maurice and Wife possess themselves of the said seven Slaves for such uses as her Father's Will directs; that the five following Slaves of William Moulson deceased, vest in the Complainant Josiah Moulson and that he hold and possess the same as his proportional Part of the Slaves devised to him by his Father William Moulson in his last Will and Testament and that he have such Estate or Estates in the said five Slaves as by his Father's Will is intended he shall have in his Proportion of his Slaves; and that the six following Salves, to wit, Bob, Silva, little Jude, Phobe, Julius and Nancy, the Slaves of William Moulson deceased, vest in the Complainant Judith Moulson and that she hold the same as her proportional Part of her Father's Slaves under his last Will and Testament and in such Manner and Form Estate or Estates as by the said Will is intended in law the said Judith Moulson paying unto Maurice Langhorn forty Shillings and to William Segar Moulson twenty Shillings to make up a Deficiency in their Parts of the Slaves respectively.

7. William Langhorne [10379] was born in 1721 and died in 1797 at age 76.
General Notes: During the Revolutionary War, William Langhorne served as an aide-de-camp to Marquis De LaFayette, was a member of the Committee of Safety, was the only representative of Warwick County for the first four of five Revolutionary Conventions. His service has been commemorated on a memorial in Williamsburg. - - Sheriff and Justice of the Peace.
