BRENT, Hugh, At his residence on High St., July the 16th. Was born in Prince William County, Virginia, in the 18th day of January 1773. He came to Kentucky the autumn of 1789 with his brother-in-law Capt. Thomas Young (his father and the rest of his family moved to Kentucky about two years later), resident of Lexington until 1792, when he became a citizen of Paris. From that time up to the year 1824, he was a successful merchant, when he retired from business. His most prominent characteristic was the love of peace. It is no unkindness to the living to say that he was bowed to the earth by the loss of his child, near three years ago. He was a member of the Protestant Episcopal Church.
